How Carl asks.

Carl only texts someone who telephoned him and said yes out loud. These are the words he uses.

How consent is collected

Carl is a telephone service. Every person who receives a text message from Carl has first telephoned him and spoken to him, and has been asked out loud, during that call, whether he may send one. Nobody is added to a list, and there is no way to be.

Consent is spoken. This page exists because a spoken agreement is not publicly visible, and it publishes the exact words used.

What Carl says, word for word

Near the end of a call, and only when the caller has used up the minutes included with it, Carl says this:

Before I let you go - I can text you a link at this number, so you can carry on if you want to. Just the one message, and message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP to opt out. The terms and the privacy policy are at call carl dot F Y I. Want me to send it?

This wording is fixed. It is not composed or paraphrased at the time of the call — it is stored as a single constant in the application and spoken exactly as written, so every caller hears the same disclosure. The text above is rendered directly from that constant, not transcribed by hand, and it changes only when the software does.

How the exchange goes

Carl: Before I let you go - I can text you a link at this number, so you can carry on if you want to. Just the one message, and message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, or STOP to opt out. The terms and the privacy policy are at call carl dot F Y I. Want me to send it?

Caller: Yeah, go on then.

Carl: Will do. Good talking to you — call back any time.

After the call ends, a transcript of the conversation is checked to confirm the caller agreed, and their own words are stored alongside the message that is sent. Anything other than a clear yes — silence, a change of subject, "maybe", or a joke — is treated as a no, and nothing is sent.

Calls are not recorded. The transcript exists only for the duration of the call and is not kept afterwards; what is retained is the sentence in which the caller agreed.

What is sent

One message, containing a link to a page on this website where minutes can be bought. Nothing else. There is no marketing, no newsletter, and no second message.

The full message terms set out frequency, cost, and how to stop. Carl's privacy policy covers what is recorded and how to have it deleted.

Stopping

Reply STOP to any message and no further messages are sent. Reply HELP for support details, or see the help page. Message and data rates may apply.
